Working backwards from our latest full-length album release, we are excited to announce that our 6-track EP from 2015, Now or Never is now available to stream or download from all your favourite music streaming sites, and YouTube for some reason!

The bonus track, When You’re Sleeping will remain exclusive to the Bandcamp release, so go and download the EP from there if you want to hear a little piece of industrial-glitch-pop (or something along those lines). Enjoy!

They said it would never happen. The long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s Headweight was going to be forever unheard, unreleased, and exist only in fragments on a single hard drive of an aging iMac. From 2016’s initial recording sessions at Panic, to the “back to the drawing board” approach at Sound Savers throughout 2017, things went on an apparent hiatus until the release of Motivational Speaker at the end of the following year. But now, finally, we are proud to present the thirteen track album, ZEALOUS YEN.

In celebration, this marks the very first “official” digital release outside of BandCamp, with the album available to stream and download from all the major players in the online music scene, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon to name but a few. After doing a bit of tidying up around Sutereo HQ (the cluttered spare room at Jae’s house) recently, we unearthed a box of what appears to be the final few blue sticker edition “Headweight” Digipak CDs, all brand new and sealed and looking as appealing as ever.

Now obviously by now these have become high-value collector’s items, being the last of only fifty released back in 2015 (what a productive year that was!), but rather than jack up the price accordingly, we are still selling them for the low-low cost of just £7.00 including shipping. Remember kids, it’s still currently the only way you can actually listen to the album, as it never appeared on our Bandcamp page.

We thought it was about time we gave you a little taste of what to expect from that forthcoming album we’ve been banging on about for the past few years (yes, years!), so what better way to do so than to bounce down one of the 13 tracks and present it as a downloadable single on Bandcamp!

And of course no respectable single is complete without at least one B-side and so, as previously mentioned, we have included a beefy cover of Sealed With A Kiss for good measure, itself taken from a proposed album of Zealous Yen covers recorded over the summer.

Yes, I know I know! It’s been flippin’ months since anything was posted on here, and I apologise for not keeping you up to date on what’s been going on since the last post on here (a whole 8 months ago..!). But there is finally some exciting news at long last! There’s a brand-spanking new single available in the next few days! It will consist of Motivational Speaker which is taken from the forthcoming album, and will be accompanied by a very Zealous Yen-esque cover of Sealed With A Kiss as a B-Side (recorded at Survival Studios back in June of this year, in its final week of trading).

This single will give a nice little insight into what you can expect from the album.. Whenever that gets released. As ever, I promise it’ll be worth the wait 🙂

OK, so our last update on here was posted a good 17 months ago and although much has happened since then, we still have an unfinished album on our hands. The album was very near to being completed back in 2016 but the majority of it wasn’t sounding quite right. That’s why we chose to scrap the entire thing and start from scratch, this time doing the bulk of recording at Sound Savers recording studio in Hackney using only the finest microphones and recording techniques courtesy of one Mark Jasper.

Recording began in April 2017 and sporadically throughout the year as and when time allowed. It was decided that the album itself would be mixed at Jae’s studio (the box room) to retain that familiar Zealous Yen sound you all know and tolerate, also allowing more flexibility in terms of studio time. And that brings you more-or-less up to speed. The mixing is coming along very nicely (albeit slowly, thanks to stupid work and other boring stuff) and there will be 13 songs for definite.

We shall do our best to keep you updated with weekly posts on here, but thank you for your patience in the mean time. We really think you’ll enjoy this one!

Where does the time go?! Work is still underway on the new album and although we were hoping to have it completed by Christmas, it’s looking very likely that it’s going to be an early 2017 release! It will be well worth the wait though we promise, and is set for another limited run of CDs as well as a possible VERY limited edition vinyl release (if we get enough people interested – more details to follow). The album itself will have the most tracks of any Zealous Yen release so far (13 – 14 songs) so you’ll get plenty of music for your monies!

We will keep you posted with any other updates, and maybe upload some sneak-previews at some stage so keep checking back (please)! In the meantime, thanks for your patience!

Recording for the followup to 2015’s Headweight is firmly underway, with the drums being recorded in two six-hour sessions over the last couple of weeks. There is still a huge amount of work to be done, but the groundwork is in place and things are taking shape!
